How we build software: a small team and a lot of agents

Clear specs, agents that draft, people who decide, and a sprint review every week. A look at the process behind our products.

People are often surprised by how much a small team can ship. There's no secret: we pair a disciplined engineering process with AI orchestration, and we're strict about where each one fits. Here's how a feature goes from idea to production.

Start with a spec a machine can follow

Every piece of work starts as a short written spec: the problem, what done looks like, and how we'll test it. Writing for an agent forces clarity, and it turns out the same clarity helps every human who reads it later.

Let agents draft, let people decide

Agents do the first pass: scaffolding, implementation, tests and documentation. Engineers spend their time where judgement matters most, on architecture, trade-offs, reviewing changes and the edge cases nobody wrote down.

AI writes a lot of our first drafts. People own every decision that ships.

Tests are the contract

Nothing merges on trust. Automated tests, type checks and reviews gate every change, whether a person or an agent wrote it. That's what lets us move quickly without getting sloppy.

Show it every week

Each sprint ends with a review where we demo what shipped, live, to the whole team. It keeps feedback honest and progress visible, and it's usually followed by pizza.

  • Write the spec first, and make it testable.
  • Agents draft, people review and decide.
  • Every change passes the same checks, whoever wrote it.
  • Demo what shipped, every sprint.
